Eyed is an exploration of a superstitious belief known as the Evil Eye: a curse cast by an evil gaze. This project looks into the power bestowed onto objects and hand gestures, which, according to many cultures, have the capacity to affect domestic environments, health, and human behaviour, and on a larger scale; the weather, traffic, and astronomical events. This work includes video, 35mm film, animation, sculpture, and sound.

Synopsis:

After many months of physical pain, strange weather, and puzzling occurrences, this series of inexplicable misfortunes brought forth one conclusion: a curse had been cast.

 

In this personal account based on true events, the curse was passed on to me by one of the most unlikely creature imaginable: a guinea pig.
